Apparently, Leonardo DiCaprio has a cute but strange nickname for his close mate, Brad Pitt.

Pitt made the disclosure to PeopleTV on Sunday, 19 January on the red carpet ahead of the 26th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

The two of them had been friends for many years and Pitt said: “Lover. He calls me Lover. It’s a bit confusing, but I roll with it.”

They both star in an Oscar-nominated film titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

He said: “You’ll find, with most of the guys, I would say we’re all pretty much rooting for each other, we all have respect for each other, we all have a good laugh with each other. And it plays, and it’s pretty easy.”

Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za previously reported that legendary actor Robert De Niro was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the SAG Awards held in Los Angeles on Monday, 20 January.

The Godfather star took the opportunity to take a swipe at the American president, Donald Trump, over his "abuse of power."

He said: "We are in such a dire situation, so deeply concerning to me and to so many others. I have to say something. There's right, and there's wrong, and there's common sense, and there's abuse of power.

"And as a citizen, I have as much right as anybody – an actor, an athlete, a musician, anybody else – to voice my opinion and if I have a bigger voice because of my situation, I'm going to use it whenever I see blatant abuse of power."
