- A video circulating on social media has Mzansi talking
- It shows alleged municipality workers attempting to storm someone's business
- Social media users were not happy with how the 'workers' confronted the business owner
A video has been shared on social media showing alleged municipality workers invading a business and threatening to remove the electricity box. The footage was recorded by the owner of the business, who demanded to see their official identification or paperwork. Social media users also felt that identity documents should have been produced by the municipality.
The video was shared by Twitter parody account AdvoBarryRoux. It has been viewed over 45 000 times. Twitter user Scorn56279470 said:
"I feel it's fair for him to ask for the paperwork because many people have been posing to be police and others from municipality just to rob."
"With the levels of crime in SA and people posing as fake police and city workers I don't think this unreasonable at all. The only arrogance here is from the ANC."
"Well done. You are right, this is the strategy criminals use to steal. Where is your paper sir? He should call the cops immediately."
"Surely if he produces the necessary documents he would be allowed to inspect the electricity box. I would never allow someone with no form of identification to touch anything on my property given the current crime statistics."
"And that should stop. Mlungu did well, people can't be rocking with clock cards at our houses, the next thing people break in and all the nonsense. We all should learn from mlungu. My property not ours."
"He was right to refuse, just because he is wearing ANC hat he thinks he can do as he likes... Good one Mlungu."
