Having a great, passionate principal could greatly determine the success of a school. Mrs Verna Jeremiah is one inspiring woman who added an amazing achievement to her belt as principal of Heatherdale Secondary school.
Jeremiah took over the reins in 2008 and since then she had one goal - she wanted a 100% pass rate.
According to Colourded South Africa, Jeremiah's school always boasted with a pass rate above 90% and for the past three years, those stats got better and better.
In 2017, the school had a 98% pass rate followed by 99% in 2018. However, it was not until 2019 that the passionate principal reached her goal.
For the last academic year, Heatherdale Secondary managed to secure a 100% pass rate and it is an impressive achievement, especially taking into consideration the socio-economic situations of her learners had to overcome.
The principal worked hard to get the kids to believe in themselves, which was one of the toughest aspects of her job.

Her achievement has been applauded online, Briefly.co.za gathered.
