- A lesbian couple are taking a venue to court after it refused to host their wedding
- The venue owner said homosexuality goes against their Christian beliefs
- The couple is determined to fight what they feel is discrimination
A local same sex couple have announced that they will be taking the owner of a wedding venue to the equality court after they refused to host their event. The venue said that their wedding ceremony goes against the owner's Christian religion.
Megan Watling and Sasha-Lee Heeks could not believe their eyes when their dream wedding venue, Beloftebos, turned them away due to them being homosexual.
The couple are determined to fight what they feel is discrimination in court. According to a post shared on social media, they had enquired via email about having their wedding at the venue next year.
The owners responded by saying that they don't host same sex weddings due to them going against Christianity.
According to Jacaranda FM, the 25-year-old Watling said that she was "hurt" by the email. The event venue is no stranger to controversy after denying another same sex couple in 2017.
Spokesman for Beloftebos said it was not fair to force the owners to go against their religion.
