Life was not easy for Andile Sithole, 31 - also known as Ndumiso Ngcobo from Scandal, before he became a nationally-recognised actor and musician.

Speaking to Briefly.co.za, this award-winning soap star revealed he grew up herding cattle in his home in Hammarsdale, west of Durban and had a very difficult background.
Due to financial problems he faced at home after losing his father, he was forced to start working at a very young age to help his mother with responsibilities.
His fate changed for the better when he decided to take a chance at the Scandal auditions. A few weeks later, he learnt of the life-changing news that he got the part in the soapie.
It was the lifeline he needed to leave his underprivileged life in KwaZulu-Natal and go to Johannesburg to seek better opportunities.
“I was excited. However, I was terrified about being in the city of Johannesburg. Coming from being a rural boy to a big city boy is a major adjustment. I admit that I had hard time finding my feet in Johannesburg, but it all worked out in the end.”
Although it was his first appearance on TV, acting was not something new to him as he was part of a play at school. It was at this school play he realised his passion for acting.
In 2016, he proved to everyone that the sky is the limit by spreading his wings and talent and taking the music world by storm.
When the Gqom star performs, Ndumiso fades away and Al05 takes the stage! His most loved hits to date include You Know mM and Mjita ka Mjjita and he is currently working on releasing a new album. He is also working with Grey and Black Entertainment.
Andile is proud to have come from an underprivileged background and achieved so much, putting his homestead on the map:
“I learnt to be responsible at a very young age and appreciate what God gave me. Today I am where I am because of what I have gone through in life.”
After experiencing difficulties in pursuing his education in high school, he formed a student organisation to raise awareness on education issues in rural areas. When he completed is matric, he worked very hard, doing odd jobs to raise funds to register for a Degree in Education at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
The proud father said he was grateful to his family, viewers and his music fans for the support they have shown him and that being Scandal's Ndumiso Ngcobo and Al05 is a dream come true.
“I am so happy for how my life has transformed, for my achievements. I am working on an album soon. I thank my whole family for their support. The love and support they've shown is amazing and much appreciated.
“My childhood was very difficult, I did not enjoy it as I had to work most of the time. I started working when I was in Grade 9 on weekends, so there was no time to play. It was school during weekdays and work on weekends. It was through God's grace that I made it.”
Andile may be living a life of luxury, however, the superstar is still rooted in his beliefs and tradition, adding he prefers that women don't wear make-up.
“I don't have a problem with make-up but I prefer my woman to showcase her natural beauty. Why hide your God-given natural beauty with make-up?”
