- Meet Frans, a gentleman who creates stunning works of art using recycled materials
- The 54-year-old stands on the corner of a street to try and sell the stunning art
- Frans' recycled art scenes represent “Saving the Planet”
An artist, who was only identified as Frans, has wowed Mzansi with his breath-taking creations. The Angel Network SA shared Frans' story on Facebook on Thursday.
Briefly.co.za learned the 54-year-old, who hails from Pietersburg, uses recycled materials to create 3D works of art.
As a child, Frans used sticks or other available objects to draw on huts and walls. He then went to school and started drawing on paper.
However, his life took a turn and Frans started working in construction until he got sick in 1990. He went into an early retirement and only took up art as a profession after his friends saw his talent.
The Angel Network wrote:
"One day at the river he started to make figures with the mud which expanded to the pictures in his mind using the materials he could find in nature around him or anything that had been discarded by the Village and the rural scenes of thatched houses and village life were the first pictures. He also portrays African traditional ceremonies. They are all about Africa."
According to the post, Frans not only draws pictures, he also carves wood and a life size statue of himself.
Frans' work has previously been purchased by a corporate company and some were sold to a gallery. However, sadly, he only got a small fraction of the work's worth.
