- Kaizer Chiefs signed Kenyan international Anthony Akumu earlier in January
- The midfielder has been training with Chiefs for weeks, but still hasn't featured yet
- It is understood that Akumu is still awaiting his work permit due to system issues at the Department of Home Affairs
Kaizer Chiefs fans were excited when another signing was announced during this January transfer window.
As Briefly.co.za had reported, Chiefs were strongly linked with Kenyan international Anthony Akumu when the player left Zesco United.
Eventually, Chiefs got their man as Akumu signed, but supporters are still waiting to see the midfielder in action.
Although Akumu has been training with the Amakhosi for weeks, KickOFF.com reported that he'll miss the match against Golden Arrows on Saturday.
Akumu was initially forced to be patient until the departure of Ghanaian James Kotei, as Chiefs needed to reduce their foreign quota.
However, even though Kotei was released, Akumu is still waiting for the green light due to work permit delays.
Briefly.co.za learnt that system issues at the Department of Home Affairs has resulted in the delay.
Baroka mentor Dylan Kerr suffered a similar fate following his appointment as head coach.
It is hoped that Akumu will be eligible to make his debut on February 7 when Chiefs take on Royal Eagles in the Nedbank Cup.
