Eight years ago, EPL giants Manchester United made their way to Cape Town for a pre-season friendly against Ajax. Little did the Red Devils knows that the Cape outfit was ready to put up a fight.
In a packed Cape Town Stadium, United faced a surprisingly strong Ajax squad. Many local fans, however, were excited to see international stars like Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes.
The Ajax squad consisted of Khama Billiat, Granwald Scott and Thulani Hlatshwayo. The match that ensued was riveting no matter which team one supported. Alcardo van Graan netted a goal in the 86th minute as Ajax looked to win.
