After a very brazen robbery in July 2016, a woman and an accomplice made off with money and valuables from the Hawks' offices in Kimberley.
The estimated value of their loot is about R183 000, Briefly.co.za gathered from information shared by the SAPS.
The woman has since been arrested and handed a 5-year imprisonment sentence. Maria Maditlhare Tlailane appeared in the Galeshewe regional court and was found guilty.
Tlailane and her unnamed accomplice managed to get into the offices by giving the security guard a cold drink that was laced with an 'unknown poison'
Hawks spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi said the criminal duo then managed to get the safes in the offices open by using grinders.
They got away with valuables and cash and for months the police searched for them.
The 34-year-old woman was arrested in December 2016 and now finally given a sentence for her crime.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General Kholekile Galawe applauded the investigating team for their sterling work and their dedication and commitment throughout the case.
