- Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup clash ended in a stalemate
- Heung-min Son broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 58th minute
- But a late minute equaliser from Boufal helped the home team book a replay with Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur bottled their chance to cruise to the next stage of this year's FA Cup championship after allowing Southampton to score an equaliser just three minutes from time.
Spurs took the lead in the 58th minute with Heung-min Son breaking the deadlock with a superb goal from a close range.
The South Korean star connected with Eric Lamela's pass from the middle before sending the ball to the bottom right corner of the post.
Meanwhile, a late minute equaliser from Sofiane Boufal in the 87th minute ensured Ralph Hasenhüttl's men force a replay of the round.
The 26-year-old Frenchman fired home from the edge of the box after receiving a superb pass from Danny Ings to share the spoils with their visitors.
Spurs are still without their inspirational striker Harry Kane who has been out injured for some weeks now.
However, Giovani Lo Celso managed to score in the first half but the VAR ruled out for offside after Son was said to have interfered in the process of the goal.
Both sides continued to launch attacking moves against either side but were unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the half.
Both Lucas Moura and Danny Ings were presented with glaring chances for their respective clubs, yet, they failed to utilise the opportunity when it mattered.
Having gone without a goal in the opening half of the meeting, Son handed his side the lead int he 58th minute.
And in the 87th minute, Boufal leveled parity for the hosts as they are poised for a replay with Mourinho's men early next month at the north Londoners' Stadium.
