The world, especially the sporting fraternity, has been hit hard by the death of American basketball legend Kobe Bryant.
As earlier reported by Briefly.co.za, Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash at Calabasas in California on Sunday, 26 January.
Even more heartbreaking was the fact that he died with his 13-year-old daughter Gianni Maria, who was in the helicopter with him.
While the deaths of Kobe and his daughter have dominated news headlines, they were not the only people who suffered the devastating fate.
There were seven other people on the helicopter, including the pilot, putting the total number of deaths at nine.
Details and photos of all the nine people who were aboard the chopper have been released on American television.
Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli died alongside his wife Keri and their daughter Alyssa.
A mother, Sarah Chester, also died alongside her daughter Payton Chester.
Christina Mauser, an assistant coach for an Orange County private elementary school basketball team, was also killed in the crash.
The last person is the pilot of the chopper, Ara Zobayan.
