Banyana Banyana received a lot of attention following their qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Briefly.co.za reported on the team's early exit and how coach Desiree Ellis focused on the positives.
One of the advantages is that the Banyana players received more exposure by showcasing their talents on the global stage and it seems that Thembi Kgatlana is reaping the rewards.
Kgatlana has now earned her big European move as she signed for Portuguese giants, Benfica.
The 23-year-old previously enjoyed stints with Houston Dash in the United States and Beijing BG Phoenix in China.
KickOFF.com reported on the excitement from club vice-president Fernando Tavares as he lavished praise on the former CAF African Women's Player of the Year.
Tavares said, "We have high expectations for Thembi. She was considered the best African of the Year in 2018, is a player with very strong characteristics, is very fast, can perform two positions on the field, as a striker or as a winger."
Kgatlana will join a host of other international players at Benfica and they recently won the second-tier title at a canter - with 18 victories and two draws.
