Haibo: Woman checks phone while EMS tries to lift car off her

A woman has gone viral after she was hit by a car. Hero pedestrians in New York rushed to get her out from underneath the SUV and moments later she was seen texting.

On Monday, a social media user, @colbydroscher, shared a video of passersby helping a lady after she got hit by a car.

The post was captioned:

"Just now at Delancey and Norfolk in the Lower East Side an accident ran over a pedestrian trapping them under an SUV. Onlookers just lifted the SUV, dragging the victim out."

The video gathered more than 4.2 million views and it showed the heroics of pedestrians.

However, the photo @colbydroscher shared next had social media users shocked. The lady can be seen checking her phone while emergency services attempt to help her.

The post was captioned:

"The woman is awake and on her phone."

Briefly.co.za gathered that while many were speechless over the woman using her phone shortly after an accident, some social media users had jokes.

Twitter user, @ghod, commented:

"Me downloading my health insurance card and checking my coverage before they call the paramedics."
