Kaizer Chiefs have used the January transfer window to offload some fringe players and resolve some of the player contracts that were winding down.

One of the recent casualties has been Sizwe Twala, who was released and will play for Swallows FC in the GladAfrica Championship.

Briefly.co.za can now confirm however, that the Amakhosi have tied down two key players by offering them contract extensions.

Veteran forward Bernard Parker joined Chiefs in 2011 and will be staying at Naturena for another year, with his contract ending in June 2021.

Daniel Akpeyi has signed a two-year extension and is just reward for his outstanding form this season.

The Nigerian goalkeeper has filled the void left by Itumeleng Khune and has retained the number one jersey.

Itumeleng (@mogoje404) said,

"I salute you Boby for extension that is fruitful because to be honest Daniel never disappoint us. The fact is that he rescued Kaizer Chiefs in the absence of Khune..#WillNeverRegret."

Khizzie's Cousin (@AndaSobs) added,

"He deserves it. Congratulations to our Oga. Continue making us proud."

Wanuna wa xiviri (@wa_wanuna) responded to the news of Parker's extension:

"I knew you will do the right thing dankie @KaizerChiefs after that 01 year we will take it from maybe you can extend. If you are khosi i follow you."

Maxwell (@Madiraz) added,

"No offense to Parker but he's old and no more football left in him. Every game nje I don't see him bring anything positive."
