- Orlando Pirates legend Jerry Sikhosana feels that the Buccaneers perform better under a white coach
- Sikhosana's controversial opinion is based on the Bucs' record since his playing days
- The former striker wasn't able to identify the reasons behind it, but suggested it could be down to the players' mentality
Briefly.co.za previously reported on the turnaround at Orlando Pirates since Josef Zinnbauer was appointed as head coach.
Orlando Pirates legend Jerry Sikhosana thinks he knows the secret behind their success and shared a controversial theory.
According to the former striker, Pirates perform much better under a white coach.
Sikhosana pulled no punches as he said, "Maybe Pirates needs a white coach. They do well under white coaches.”
The Daily Sun reported that Sikhosana feels the reason could be down to the mentality of the players.
Sikhosana asked, "Is it our mental approach towards our black coaches or is it the respect we give white coaches?"
The former talisman cited Pirates' record since his playing days and feels that the seven coaches he played under, yielded much better results than their black counterparts.
Pirates' record under Zinnbauer would vindicate Sikhosana's theory as they've been unbeaten thus far.
With the German tactician at the helm, the Buccaneers have notched five wins and a draw.
One of those wins came against the current PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
