Unathi Nkayi remains one of Mzansi's favourite radio personalities despite being away from the mic for a while.

She left Metro FM in what was described as a 'painful exit' about which Unathi opened up about in Behind The Story.

One of the main reasons she walked away was a disagreement with the station's bigshots. Fans had kind of made peace with not hearing Unathi on their radios ever again, but she's returning home.

Briefly.co.za noticed that the announcement was shared on social media by the radio station to thank for Unathi's return.

Kaya FM shared a video and in it, Unathi says she was overwhelmed at first.

"When I got the call to come home to Kaya, it was overwhelming for me. Not because I doubt whether I'm Afropolitan or not, but because I thought I wasn't ready."

This comes shortly after Unathi was let off the hook for her comment on Idols.

The BCCSA ruled that her comments regarding Xhosas on Idols did not constitute tribalism.

After contestant Luyolo gave a stellar performance, Unathi jokingly said, “On behalf of the Xhosa people, we are tired of holding up the nation."

The comment created an uproar, with viewers accusing her of being a tribalist.
