- The win catapulted the Buccaneers to second place on the Absa Premiership log
At the start of the season, Briefly.co.za reported on the signing of Frank 'Gabadinho' Mhango from Bidvest Wits to Orlando Pirates.
Back then already, the Pirates fans were celebrating the news and the Malawian striker has repaid their faith in him.
Mhango scored a crucial brace over the weekend in the 2-1 victory over Chippa United.
This has now brought his goal tally to 14 from only 20 matches this season.
The 27-year-old now leads the goal-scoring chart by three points, with AmaZulu's Bongi Ntuli in second place.
Mhango's first was a penalty, which he slotted in clinical fashion. The second saw him beat the defender for pace, before a precision finish into the far corner.
Chippa pulled one back on 29 minutes when Wayne Sandilands was beaten on his near post by Augustine Kwem.
Pirates prevailed in the end and the win catapulted them to second on the Absa Premiership log.
Their form and position on the log has prompted the inevitable question and ENCA reported that coach Josef Zinnbauer set the record straight.
Zinnbauer said, "Everyone is asking me if we can catch Chiefs and my answer is always that we are taking our league schedule one match at a time."
