Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer has come out in defence of his midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch.

Briefly.co.za previously reported on some of Lorch's woes this season as he earlier failed to register a goal or assist.

However, since the arrival of Zinnbauer, Pirates and Lorch have showed immediate signs of improvement.

The team's performances have recently catapulted them to second on the Absa Premiership log and Lorch has racked up a goal and an assist in his last three outings.

KickOFF.com reported that Zinnbauer is happy about Lorch's progress and his improved work ethic.

The German tactician said, “Now he works for the team and he’s a team player now."

Zinnbauer feels that the major improvement has come relative to the work he does in defence when tracking back.

The German recognised Lorch's form as he said, "It’s not just a moment, last year was very good for him and he was a big player in Africa.”
