Motorist calls for young man directing traffic to land permanent job

A man has called on officials to permanently employ a homeless man who directs traffic. According to the motorist, the young man helps out when the traffic lights are not working.

Lesego Setlhareng shared a video of the man directing traffic along with the caption:

"There’s this homeless boy that always controls traffic when the robots aren’t working by the Witkoppen off-ramp from the N1 highway. He deserves a job at OUTsurance Traffic Control at least."

The video was met with a positive response from social media users who agreed that the man was doing an excellent job. Twitter user FransMabonda said:

"True, we will retweet until he gets noticed."

"He does a good job hey, saw him yesterday after work and the flow was on point as if the robots were working."

BhaneMfanafuthi said:

"It is very unfortunate that people who wants to work don't get the job. Only lazy busted [sic] get the job."

OUTsurance, which was tagged in the initial post, has since responded by saying:

"We agree he is doing a good job. Unfortunately the COJ didn't renew the contract and now the pointsmen only operate in the Tshwane District."
