Blade Nzimande on Cabinet axing: ‘I was not surprised.’

Blade Nzimande, the fired higher education minister, was not surprised he was fired from his portfolio when the president announced another Cabinet reshuffle.

Nzimande was the only minister who was totally removed from Cabinet when President Jacob Zua undertook his 11th Cabinet reshuffle recently.

Meanwhile, Nzimande said before he was axed, the president didn’t hand him the Fees Commission report into the viability of free higher education.

But, Nzimande said the signs of an imminent axing were there.

Briefly.co.za learned from Eyewitness News that he said the president must be respected when it comes to how he chooses to deal with such event.

However, Nzimande said he did find his axing totally out of order, although he was not surprised by Zuma’s move.

“All the signs were there.”
