The two icons will face off against each in other and play an entertaining doubles match with comedian Trevor Noah and billionaire Bill Gates.
Federer announced his arrival in South Africa via social media and the news caused a stir.
Ahead of the big match weekend, Federer will travel to Namibia as part of a visit to see the work done through his foundation.
He'll then return to Cape Town where he'll battle his nemesis Nadal.
Local tennis fans are chomping at the bit in anticipation and made their voices heard in response to Federer's Facebook post.
Pai Deutsch said,
"That’s awesome! I spent 2 years in Botswana in the Peace Corps, and I’m sure all of Southern Africa is grateful for what your doing!"
Chris Lee added,
"Have a good trip Roger. Hope you have recovered from your injury in Australia. Thanks for bringing us so much enjoyment and wonder in tennis. It is always a treat to watch you in action. Stay safe and healthy always. You have millions of fans (like me!) who love you and wish you only the best."
Nola Howard Pattullo explained his dilemma involving the match tickets:
"Welcome to Cape Town , what a honour to have you and Raffa here with us. Sadly the tickets were sold old within a few minutes. Will watch your matches on TV. Praying that your charities will receive everything that you wish for. Enjoy our beautiful City."
