Cristiano Ronaldo said he is blessed to become a superstar footie despite coming from a small community Madeira in Portugal, saying he never thought he could have achieved so much at 35.

The Portuguese footie clocked 35 on Wednesday, February 5 and has found himself in the middle of social media discussion amid incredible show of love from football space.

As fans reflect on his enviable legacies in the game with many submitting he is diving towards the twilight of his incredible career, Ronaldo said he thought he would be in his hometown fishing.

" I thought I would be fishing in Madeira,'' Ronaldo said when asked if he ever thought he would still be playing football at 35.

" I knew my dream was to become a professional footballer but to play for Portugal, to play for big clubs I have played for, to win what I have won, it never crossed my mind."

Ronaldo has often been considered one of the greatest players to grace the football space in terms of accomplishments, records, the monetary value and the social prestige.

With a career spanning two decades, Ronaldo put football world under his carpet winning different titles across four top leagues in Europe including five Champions League-- one with Man United and four with Real Madrid.

Among other decorations, the Portuguese also won five Ballon d'Or gongs, and Barcelona hitman Lionel Messi is the only player who has the gong more than him.

As a father, Ronaldo has amazing four kids of which his first son Cristiano Jr is taking after him in football.

The Portuguese, who rose from Lisbon to a world superstar and business mogul, has two kids from surrogacy and one from his partner, Georgina Rodriquez.

As a businessman, the 35-year-old legendary forward has many businesses in different countries and he is worth billions in value.

Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za had reported that Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday, February 5, turned 35 and he got a remarkable birthday gift of a car from his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina have been dating since his days at Real Madrid and the Spaniard has a child for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
