- Reports on social media suggest that the NSFAS may have messed up and deposited R5 billion into a student's account
- There is a screenshot doing the rounds of a student with R5 billion in her student account
- The obscene amount is allegedly from the student funding body, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)
A screenshot of a student's account with R5 billion in it is doing the rounds on social media.
The money was allegedly erroneously deposited into the student's account by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
The matter first crept up when a Twitter user expressed shock that his friend had received so much money from NSFAS.
The tweep provided proof in the form of a picture of the bank cellphone notification.
The NSFAS clearly hadn't caught wind of the error yet, as its social media account asked for the student's details.
Details were forwarded to NSFAS, but tweeps were shocked that the matter had remained undiscovered by NSFAS until now.
They also wanted to know why NSFAS couldn't identify the account itself and who such a large amount was actually meant for.
