- The deal will keep the 24-year-old at the club until 2024
- SuperSport United fans celebrated the news, while rivals urged the player to move to a "bigger" club
SuperSport United have used the new year to tie down some of the biggest stars to long-term contracts.
Briefly.co.za previously reported on the shrewd move to offer goalkeeper Ronwen Williams a four-and-a-half-year extension.
The club have now announced that Aubrey Modiba has followed suit and will now remain at the club until 2024.
The talented winger is currently 24 years of age, so will spend his prime years at Matsatsantsa.
SuperSport United shared the news via Facebook and Briefly.co.za noted the strong reaction.
United fans were lapping it up, but rival supporters urged Modiba to move to a "bigger" club.
Khulumani Bhengu said,
"Very sad for Aubrey Modiba player quality to look at himself down so, he deserve to play football at higher level. At 26 definitely no overseas team will come for him, the only way he could enjoy football at bigger stage was to play for champions league. Hop Tebogo sees it right as he need to take over from Hlompo Kekana!"
Muzi Nsibande commended club management:
"Thank you to SuperSport United management, he is one of the most valuable player he's definitely for keeps."
Benson Madzanire added,
"This is fantastic news Thank you Aubrey and Stan SSU is home."
