Jamie Bartlett on saying goodbye to 'Rhythm City': "I'm very relieved"

Fans are saddened and dismayed after it's been revealed that Jamie Bartlett will no longer be a part of the Rhythm City cast.

Jamie has played the part of villain David Genaro since the show's inception. Briefly.co.za reported that the actor, who has played the character for 13 years, is leaving the soapie to concentrate on other projects.

Jamie won a Best Actor SAFTA for the role last year.

Fans are certainly going to miss David and his witty, evil and hilarious antics. Jamie, however, feels differently about it.

He's feeling relieved, actually.

"I feel very relieved. I had to really drill him and to bellow oxygen into him. The storyline was very engaging and it has come to pass.
"It's been really a real gas to slip into his shoes and I feel very privileged playing the character."

He may feel good about what his future holds, but Jamie's fans won't forget the way he touched them with his acting.

They can't wait to see what he gets up to next.
