- DJ Black Coffee has bittersweet memories of the time that Nelson Mandela was released from prison
- Despite the hope that filled South Africans' hearts at the time, the DJ also remembers how he ended up in hospital
- The accident he was involved in also claimed two lives and Black Coffee reflected on this in a post on social media
DJ Black Coffee decided to share a memory from many years ago with his fans on social media.
The muso opened up about what he was doing 30 years ago just after Nelson Mandela was released from prison.
Like the rest of South Africa, Black Coffee was celebrating this monumental moment, but things quickly turned bad.
He stated in a post on Instagram that he was left in pain and hospitalised after an accident that claimed two lives.
However, Briefly.co.za noticed that Black Coffee also (in his way) thanked God for leading him on his journey since then.
Part of the DJ's post read:
"It’s been 30 years. 30 years ago exactly at this hour, I was in hospital in pain after an accident that took two lives while we were celebrating the release of this great human being Nelson Mandela from 27 years of prison.
"I understand why He gave me music, to heal me first before it even gets to you. I’m grateful for every note and every melody. I will continue to follow His lead."
