Lesogo Legobane, more popularly known as Thickleeyonce, was devastated after receiving harsh criticism for her appearance on the SA Fashion Week’s runway.
The model says she was so upset it caused her to be physically sick.
Lesogo is known for being a strict promoter for body positivity but says the comments she received after walking the runway for Woolworths were more than she could handle.
She received a wholesome applause during her appearance, but was later poked fun at on Twitter after users posted videos of her walking on the runway.
The model has said that under normal circumstances she wouldn’t care about what others had to say, but the nasty words struck her hard as this was one of the shows she felt most confident and happy in.
She soon returned online to tell everyone that she has no regrets and put to rest the claims that she is using her weight to make money, saying that she loved her body long before her fame.
Briefly.co.za learned from TshishaLive that Woolworths South Africa and the CEO of SA Fashion week have both condemned the hatred received, saying that it is unacceptable in this day and age for someone to be put down based on their bodily features.
Thickleeyonce made her name known internationally after responding to a social media user who posted a picture of her in a bikini alongside a picture of model Joelle Kayembe.
The user compared the two pictures with the caption “girls that I like vs girls that like me” to which Lesogo replied: “I don’t like you.”
Her reply was liked by both Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande and had her featured in Teen Vogue USA.
