- SONA 2020 saw unruly behaviour amongst some politicians and was halted
- Eventually, the process commended and President Cyril Ramaphosa was able to complete his address
- South Africans took to social media to praise Madam Speaker Thandi Modise for keeping things in order
The 2020 State of the Nation Address lived up to expectations and delivered some entertaining moments.
Briefly.co.za earlier reported on the tit-for-tat that nearly spilled out of control between EFF's Mbuyiseni Ndlozi and the ANC's Boy Mamabolo.
Ndlozi roasted Mamabola for his black and white attire.
The EFF pulled out all the stops and many would argue that they succeeded to disrupt the address.
EFF leader Julius Malema threw massive shade in the direction of former president FW De Klerk.
Malema accused De Klerk of having blood on his hands and being a murderer. Juju then proceeded to demand that De Klerk be removed from the house.
Although there were moments when it seemed SONA would not be completed, order was restored and the president was able to complete his address.
Speaker of the National Assembly Thandi Modise received much of the praise for maintaining order.
Briefly.co.za gauged the social media reaction and Modise was lauded for being firm and in charge.
However, some felt that she was slightly biased towards the ANC.
