An Eastern Cape community recently reminded their premier, Oscar Mabuyane, who really runs the show. On a visit to one of the province's villages, fed-up residents forced the politician to go pump the water from the communal tap so he could understand their experience. In a video shared online, the flustered official can be seen pumping the water.
Twitter user SonwabileNtlok4 shared the footage on the social media platform. Briefly.co.za gathered that the community was from Gcuwa, a small village in the Eastern Cape. They can be heard taunting the premier and shouting "Mpoompa" which means "Pump".
Social media users were generally quite happy with what they saw in the footage, many believing that the premier had to experience that. Twitter user LwaizakaM said:
"Good. He's useless."
"KWT has brown water, kanti what's happening in EC? Is it a way for these municipalities to continue giving tenders to their buddies?"
"Good. People don't play that side."
"I love my people with all my heart."
"Good we are tired of not having water."
