Once again, a South African artist has made our country proud. This time it is Benny Afroe that will do the honours by showing casing at the 33rd annual South by Southwest Conference and Festivals (SXSW). The event will take place in Austin, Texas, this March.
The process of selection was a difficult one with over 8 000 submissions. It was based on quality and individual music integrity. We will all agree that there is no question, Benny Afroe deserves it.
Briefly.co.za learnt that the director at Vth Season, Ninel Musson, expressed his delight saying that it is really something we one of their artists are chosen for an international event. He said that they make music to travel and there is so much emphasis placed on their A&R artists and Benny’s music speaks volumes.
Benny is equally excited saying that it is a dream come true. He will now be able to share his home-grown talent with the world. It will also afford him the opportunity to connect with other international artists.
The registration has been something more than amazing. The seven-night music festival has received over 75 000 people registering to attend. With this amount of people, Benny will be able to showcase to music lovers of influential international music industry experts, the press and of course the media. The event is scheduled to take place from 16 to 22 March 2020.
USA’s interest in Benny began earlier this year when he released his single, Hello Baby. The single charted on iTunes in the USA. Benny is on a roll, with his latest release with Ami Faku, The Feeling, been played on key radio stations throughout the country.
Benny Afroe has proven that he is an artist to watch.
