An emotional Julius Malema opened up during the funeral of his late grandmother Sarah last year.

The Economic Freedom Fighter leader had given Mzansi some insight into his relationship with Boy Mamabolo.

Briefly.co.za reported that the pair would be going to court after Malema had been accused of being abusive towards his wife. Mantwa Malema has also laid a separate case against Mamabolo over the same issue.

A clip of Malema touching on the ANC MP during the funeral of his grandmother has been doing the rounds, where the Red Beret boss revealed that he had asked President Cyril Ramaphosa what his fate would be.

This had been during his time as the ANC Youth League's leader, evidently towards the end of his tenure:

“I told him, 'Every time you make an announcement, they go and trouble her in my name, so I want to be there.' I went and they announced my expulsion. There was a huge celebration.”

The EFF leader recalled how when he arrived at his grandmother's home, protesters were carrying out a fake funeral, coffin included, telling the gogo that they would be burying her grandson.

Malema says that a certain ANC MP had been present during the morbid celebrations:

“Boy Mamabolo was standing by, telling my aunt, 'It's over, you'll no longer have food to eat. You're finished.' ”
