Samkelo Ndlovu is leaving the popular soapie Rhythm City in which she played the rebellious character of Lerato for seven years.

Although many suspected she was leaving for negative reasons, the actress has simply reached the end of this chapter in her life.

She wanted to leave earlier, but the show wanted her to stick around longer, so she did.

Now she has decided to move on and Samkelo will be taking on new adventures in her life. She shared the news on social media, making it clear that she's not leaving on a bitter or angry note.

Briefly.co.za noticed that Samkelo sent a shout-out to the people she worked with on Rhythm City, calling them family, and it's obvious that she's not walking away from the soapie because she was unhappy.

Samkelo also thanked her fans for their support over the years.

"Without dragging this out - I’d like to formally announce my departure from Rhythm City. Thanks to all the Rhythm City and Samkelo Ndlovu fans who watch religiously."

This comes not long after Jamie Bartlett, a huge favourite with the show's fans, also left.

Jamie, who played the role of David Genaro, feels relieved to be done with his infamous character.

He was David for 13 years but feels the time has come for things to end. David's fans will certainly miss him and his antics.

It was reported that Jamie left the show to work on other projects in the future.
