Judith Tshabalala has been found unharmed after surviving being hijacked and taken hostage on Sunday morning.
The South African reports that the Gauteng ANC MP had been traveling alone in Sebokeng when thieves overwhelmed her and commandeered her vehicle.
The politician was later abandoned on the outskirts of Johannesburg, near Edenpark with the hijackers fleeing.
The member of the ANC's youth task team and Gauteng branch was elected to Parliament last year after previously serving under former president Jacob Zuma's administration.
Briefly.co.za gathers that a Range Rover Evoque had been used by the criminals to secure the politician's car.
Police are currently investigating the incident, with the victim's political career believed to have played a role in her eventual release.
The Range Rover, which has a JD 68 YP GP number plate, remains a vehicle of interest to authorities, who called on the public to report any sightings.
Witnesses are assured anonymity and are urged to contact police with any information. This is a developing story, updates will be provided when more details become available.
