Mbalula criticised over cheeky comment on hefty wages for politicians

South Africa is in the midst of economic difficulties and a stubborn unemployment crisis.

Fikile Mbalula has managed to cause an upset over the steep amounts paid over to the top dogs in Parliament.

The Transport Minister shared a breakdown of the annual salaries revealing that he brings home around R200 000 every month on top of all the additional benefits.

Briefly.co.za reported that President Cyril Ramaphosa has decided against the 3-4% proposed increase in salaries that would have boosted his own pay to over R3 million a year.

But the minister's call for citizen's to 'familiarise' themselves with the enviable salaries has only served to leave people fuming.

Many questioned if the politicians were actually worth the millions they cost South Africa per year, especially in the face of rampant corruption and failure to provide basic service delivery.
