According to veteran PSL centre-back Thabo Nthethe, Maritzburg United have unearthed a real gem in the form of Rushine de Reuck.
Nthethe nominated a few for the title of Defender of the Season, but feels that De Reuck would come out trumps.
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha and Kaizer Chiefs' Eric Mathoho have also been touted by numerous football pundits.

Thanks to the contribution of De Reuck, Maritzburg have conceded the third lowest number of goals this season (17).
Nthethe said, "For me, Madisha and the boy from Maritzburg ... De Reuck have been exceptional this season. But If I were to choose one, I'd go for De Reuck."
The former Sundowns defender admires De Reuck's leadership qualities and strength in one-on-one situations.

SowetanLIVE reported that Nthethe has been training with TS Galaxy, although he's been out of professional action since 2018.
Nthethe predicted that he'd be signing with TS Galaxy before the end of this week and Briefly.co.za learnt that he's just put pen to paper.
Nthethe will now work under Galaxy coach Mabhudi Khenyeza, who joined the club earlier in February.
Khenyeza left his previous post as an assistant coach at AmaZulu and took over from Dan Malisela.
