Somizi and Mohale's four-part wedding special, Somizi and Mohale: The Union, recently debuted and it has broken Showmax.
Both their traditional and white weddings were the talk of the town for the longest time and created a hype that was truly electric.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Somizi and Mohale: The Union absolutely smashed Showmax's viewership record.
Somizi and Mohale: The Union premiered on Monday and it was clear that literally everyone was waiting for it. We knew Somizi and Mohale’s weddings were a thing, but this is just next level – like royal wedding next level.
It obliterated hugely popular shows such as the Showmax original The Girl From St Agnes, breaking the service's record for the most views ever on its first day.
“We expected Somhale to do well, but the response was even bigger than we’d hoped, and it goes to show how our shift to local content is paying dividends. In fact, the views of local content are up more than 40% in less than a year,” Niclas Ekdahl, CEO of the Connected Video division of MultiChoice said.
Somizi and Mohale's big white wedding will be the last instalment of the four-part series and it is anticipated to be the one most are excited for- it is set to air on March 16.
In other Somizi and Mohale news, the two announced that the wedding fun isn’t over just yet -they will be having a third wedding in Italy.
Being guests on Metro FM's Morning Flava breakfast in celebration of Valentine’s Day, Somizi and Mohale made the big announcement.
Somizi revealed that they will be honeymooning in April where they will be jetting off to Coachella and Dubai and then in July, for Mohale’s birthday, they will be baecationing in Italy where they are planning on hosting their third wedding.
