South Africans were shocked by the brazen thugs' attempt to take the woman in public and even Herman Mashaba had his say.

Mashaba said:

"What on earth is happening to our country? This lawlessness is eventually going to collapse this country unless something drastic happens to restore the Rule of Law @SAPoliceService. This woman is now scarred for life."

Other South Africans shared Mashaba's views and social media users gave their two cents' worth in the comment section.

Twitter user, @siweysnorms, commented:

"A state of lawlessness and disorder will continuing as long as the constitution is protecting criminals."

"What is going on in South Africa?"

It's not the first time a woman has fallen victim to brazen thugs in Mzansi. Briefly.co.za previously reported a 20-year-old French student, who studies in SA, was the victim of a brutal mugging in Cape Town.

The report adds the incident took place at Bo-Kaap, which is a popular tourist destination. The woman was stabbed three times in the neck and shoulder area, but she survived the attack and is recovering in the hospital.
