Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time since he left two years as he watched the El Clasico on Sunday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted in the stands with some of his friends watching his biggest rival Lionel Messi facing his former club Real Madrid in what was a tough battle.

And his presence must have inspired his former teammates as they got a 2-0 win over Barcelona which sent them to the top of the Spanish La Liga standings.

Vinicius Junior scored the first goal for Real Madrid in this encounter in the 71st minute, and Barcelona was looking for an equalizer before Mariano netted the winner at the death.

Ronaldo's arrival at the stadium was a low key affair as the Portuguese did not want the fans to notice him before he was later spotted in the stands.

Ronaldo seemed happy when his former team took the lead as he was seen celebrating the goal by Junior.

Real Madrid's latest win against Barcelona was a big one for Zinedine Zidane and his men as they have not beaten the Catalans at home in El Clasico since 2014.

Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 for a move to Juventus after scoring 450 goals for Los Blancos.

The former Manchester United man also won four Champions League titles at Real Madrid before he moved to the Italian Serie A.

He won the Italian Serie A title during his first season in Turin but did not go far in the Champions League as Juventus were beaten by Ajax.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus are still hopeful of winning the Champions League title.

In other news, Josef Zinnbauer is a great coach, a great tactician and a bad loser.

He dropped the s-bomb after losing to the Kaiser Chiefs during the Soweto derby on Saturday.
