Simz Ngema let the people know that being pretty does not always work to your advantage.
The topic of “pretty privilege” has received some attention lately with people claiming that being pretty is a commodity.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Simz decided to weigh in on the discussion, giving the perspective of a pretty lady who has faced the opposite of this 'privilege'.
The stunning actress shared her thoughts during an interview for the upcoming Tropika: Island of Treasure show. Simz revealed that one of the biggest and constant challenges she has had to face in her career is getting people to take her seriously and see her as more than just a pretty face.

“The biggest challenge I have faced throughout my career is fitting in. The minute that you are pretty, people think you are shallow and you always have to prove yourself. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry is riddled with shallow people, so it doesn’t make the task any easier. For me, I have had to prove myself time and time again to show the country that I have the brains to accompany the beauty,” she said.
Simz feels very strongly about being transparent and authentic. If people think being called pretty is the be-all and end-all of life, then they have a lot of life to still live, because it ain’t.
In other Simphiwe Ngema news, she recently got the Twitter streets talking with a simple question, "Does afro hair suit me?"
The actress posted this question along with a snap of her looking absolutely regal in her natural afro. She also sported absolutely no make-up on her face and looked hella fresh.
Followers did not hesitate to stan the 'do.
