South Africans can't take anything seriously - not even the coronavirus. On Thursday, it was revealed the first Covid-19 virus case has been confirmed in South Africa.
Initially, South Africans panicked about the news but it did not take long for them to start cracking jokes. Social media users shared hilarious photos of themselves getting ready for a possible outbreak.
Briefly.co.za took a look at some of the most hilarious photos posted online.
Parody account Man's Not Barry Roux shared some of the photos and he captioned the post:
"This Coronavirus Came To The Wrong Country looking for attention, it should go somewhere else where people will take it serious. South Africans will never take anything serious."
One tweep posted a snap of Ricky Rick, adding he's been prepping for the coronavirus all along.
Buhle Madolwana, who goes by the Twitter handle @mbuhles, commented:
"Ricky Rick is way ahead of us #CoronaVirusInSA."
Briefly.co.za reported on Thursday, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has confirmed the first case of the coronavirus in SA.
In a statement on the matter, Mkhize revealed that the disease had been contracted in Italy:
"The patient is a 38-year-old male who travelled to Italy with his wife. They were part of a group of 10 people and they arrived back in South Africa on 1 March, 2020."
