Loyiso Madinga, South African stand-up comedian and part of The Daily Show, has impressed Netflix with his acting ability in the African series Queen Sono.
His character in the South African crime drama is Fred, Pearl Thusi’s sidekick. Producer and director Kagiso Lediga filmed the series in 37 locations across the continent. There are a variety of dialects that will be featured in the series which include Afrikaans, Russian, Xhosa, Zulu and French.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Loyiso’s acting career came as a bit of a surprise to many fans. He is well known for his international dominance in the international comedy world.

Speaking with TshisaLIVE, Loyiso shared that it has always been his dream and part of his future plans. He also said that he was also thrilled to have been offered the part in Queen Sono so soon after he made it public that he wanted to act.
It was challenging as Loyiso had to acquire a French accent for his new role.
The comedian/actor is not overlooking and possibilities that the universe will throw his way. He is more than willing to take on soapies or star in a movie.
The series has received great reviews so far and Loyiso says that it proves that South African talent is more than capable of living on a global stage. He is of the opinion that South Africans far too often sell themselves short and is hoping that local creatives will be positive and start shooting more for the world.
