Mzansi reacts to 2nd case in Gauteng: 'Coronavirus is finally here'

The Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize has confirmed a second patient who has the coronavirus in Gauteng. A 39-year-old woman who recently returned from a trip to Italy became ill and tested positive for the virus.

This has gotten South Africa in a bit of a state and when things scare us we try to look on the funny side, just like when polony tried to kill us.

Social media users all over South Africa have reacted to the news of the second case with memes, messages and pictures, either expressing their concern, cracking a joke or just venting.

Briefly.co.za broke the news earlier today of the second case shortly after it was announced by Mkhize.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has confirmed SA's second positive case of the coronavirus. In a statement issued on this new development, the government commented that:

"The 39-year-old lady who is from Gauteng is a direct contact to the first case from KwaZulu-Natal. She was part of the group of 10 that had travelled to Italy. The public must be notified that we have information and know the whereabouts of all the other 10 people who were part of the group that had travelled to Italy. All those who came backe to South Africa are currently being tested. We are now awaiting their test results to come out. Since being traced, the have remained in isolation to avoid any further contact with third parties."
