Veteran actor Menzi Ngubane recently spoke from his heart as a father, urging men to have more respect for women and for parents to teach both their sons and their daughters what a good man really is.
Menzi has two beautiful daughters, Siya, 22, and Ziyanda, 11. So, when he hears about all the acts of violence taking place against women, it worries him greatly.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Menzi recently gave a motivational talk in Tweeling, Free State where he touched on how he raised his daughter.
The former Isibaya actor emphasised the importance of raising your daughter right so that she is able to make the right choices in life.
Menzi explained how he kept nothing from his girls so that they would keep nothing from him. Open communication is key – our girls need to be able to come to us for anything, no limits or fear, he says.
One other point Menzi highlighted was the importance of raising females with standards. He always makes sure that his girls know their worth and will not settle for less. Leading by example, Menzi prides himself on being a good example of what a good man is.
“I always tell my girls to look at what I do in this house. Look at the places I take you, because I don’t want a boy to promise to take you to Sun City as if you’ve never been.
“I take my girls to Sun City, Durban and Cape Town because if there’s a boy who comes and promises to take them there, they will tell them that my dad took me there. So, come up with something new.”
Menzi’s words to the young men in the Free State were powerful and important.
