Famous actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson have been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus disease.
The two were tested while in Australia after experiencing symptoms similar to those of COVID-19.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Hanks said the two were travelling when they felt tired and had body aches.
He noted his wife had "some chills that came and went" and owing to the spread of the virus, they decided to get checked only to test positive for the highly infectious disease.
"Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus and were found to be positive," Hanks wrote.
Medical officers advised the two to observe due protocol which involved being isolated from the public and Hanks promised to update his fans about any development.
"The medical officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated," he added.
The two are the first serious cases to involve renowned Hollywood stars and many have wished them a full recovery including fellow celebrities.
