George Lebese and George Maluleka have something in common other than their first name.

The pair were teammates at Kaizer Chiefs and their careers seem to be following a similar path.

Lebese was a star at Chiefs and many were surprised when his switch to Mamelodi Sundowns was announced a few seasons ago.

History repeated itself this week, as Maluleka stunned many when news broke of his imminent move to Sundowns as well.

Lebese is perhaps therefore best-placed to comment on the player's decision and SowetanLIVE reported that he's backed Maluleka.

Lebese confirmed that he chatted to his former teammate regarding the transfer to the Brazilians.

Lebese's interview with Robert Marawa last year indicated a player that was in two minds.

Lebese said, “Like I tell people‚ two things had to happen – either I move on and probably regret or I stay and regret not going. I say better an ‘oops’ than a ‘what if’ and you learn – it’s life‚ it’s football.”

Some sceptics would argue that the move backfired after Sundowns released Lebese at the start of the season and him spending time on the sidelines.

However, he eventually landed a deal with Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the United States.
