Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune makes his long-awaited return to the Bafana Bafana squad. With this in mind, Briefly.co.za dedicates this Flashback Friday to one of his most memorable performances.
It doesn't get any bigger than playing football in Brazil - the home of the five times World Cup winners.
Many would argue that a match away to the Samba Boys is the ultimate test as an international footballer.
If this is the case, then Itumeleng Khune passed with flying colours.
Bafana Bafana faced Brazil in 2020 and the hosts featured stars such as Neymar, Dani Alves and Hulk.
Although Brazil were the dominant side, they struggled to break down a stubborn Bafana defence and this was largely down to Khune.
The inspirational goalkeeper marshalled his back four effectively and was at his acrobatic best.
Although he was eventually undone by Hulk's powerful shot in the second half, Khune pulled off a string of wonderful saves to deny the likes of Neymar.
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za reported that Itumeleng Khune and Thabo Matlaba had been recalled for the AFCON qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.
Khune's inclusion comes as a bit of a surprise due to his 16-month hiatus.
