At the end of February, Bidvest Wits suffered a 2-0 defeat to SuperSport United and the result left coach Gavin Hunt fuming.
Following the dismal result, Hunt took aim at left-back Sifiso Hlanti and criticised his performance.
However, Briefly.co.za learnt that Hunt recently conceded that he regrets the scathing assessment.
Hunt told the media: "I was wrong, but I mean, would I do it again? No, I don't think so."
However, Daily Sun reported that Hunt's antics may have had the desired effect, as the defender's performances have picked up since then.
Hunt added, "Mistakes have been made, but he has been magnificent in the last three games."
The Wits mentor indicated that his rant may have led to the improvement, but still admits that it was out of line.
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Wits were strong contenders to challenge Kaizer Chiefs for league glory.
However, Hunt heaped pressure back on the Amakhosi by insisting that the league is theirs to lose, based on their ten-point margin.
