- A young woman revealed how she's making the most of the early school closure
- Rather than frown upon the longer school holidays, she's being proactive about the time spent with her child
- In a heartwarming video, the mother teacher her boy the words to the Mzansi smash hit song, My African dream
South African families were caught offguard when President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that schools would be closing earlier due to Covid-19 concerns.
While many parents were forced to run around to accommodate their children for the additional days, one woman sees the silver lining.
Thobile Chittenden has adopted a positive approach and not frowned upon the extra work she'd have to put in over the holidays.
As part of the #ConnectSouthAfricaChallenge, Thobile has embraced the free time with her child and recently taught him the words to a classic South African song.
In a beautiful video, the mother and son combine to sing Vicky Sampson's smash hit, My African dream.
The little man's enthusiasm is infectious and Briefly.co.za noted that it struck a chord with Facebook users.
Since being shared on Tuesday, the video has been viewed more than 10 000 times.
Dayleen Wentzel Thomas said,
"Wow way to go. I loved the positivity."
Marika Ann Tannahill added,
"Too lovely. Wish I could have seen the whole song!"
Sorita Musgrave said,
"He is gorgeous and you can feel the love between mother and son! One of my favourite songs!"
