- Tunzi told the little girl, and other girls who feel like her, that they are beautiful
Zozibini Tunzi has taken to Instagram on Wednesday to write a message to a little girl who called herself ugly in a heart-breaking viral video.
The clip shows the little girl, Ariyonna, telling her hairstylist that she is ugly. The older woman told the little girl that she's beautiful with her dimples and stunning skin and Ariyonna broke down in tears.
"To Ariyonna and every other little girl who has felt like this..you are beautiful, don't let the world tell you any less. I have had so many interviews where I have been asked "You challenge beauty standards today. What beauty standards do you think we should have?" And I always wonder "why must we have have beauty standards?" With so many beautiful women in the world who look so different from each other, why should we have beauty standards? Beauty is subjective and so in that regard every woman and girl of every race, shape, size and shade is beautiful."
Take a look at her post below:
Zozi added that things should change so that young girls no longer live in a world where they feel ugly.
The Miss Universe added:
"We cannot continue to live in a world that makes young girls feel less about themselves because they are not the "standard". It is our responsibility, collectively to create a healthy world for children because we need them to grow up to be the extraordinary, capable, kind people this world needs to be a better place because honestly right now we are messing up big time. We need them to be healthy and happy because that is what they deserve.
"To everyone who has felt like they are different and don't meet the "standard" know that the "standard" is boring. You are beautiful, capable and enough. @lilwavedaddy you are phenomenal for what you did here. Bless you."
Previously, Briefly.co.za reported that Zozi returned to Mzansi last month. Many waited at OR Tambo International Airport despite the wet weather. When she finally set foot on SA soil, she was welcomed with cheers and joyful singing.
