- A new rule has been put in place that liquor stores have to close at 6pm
- This is to somehow curb the spread of coronavirus
- Thando Thabethe, like a lot of us, just does not see the correlation
Policie minister, Bheki Cele, has put in place a new law that bottle stores and restaurants can no longer sell liquor past 6pm.
This rule is to be implemented from today until mid-April.
It is supposedly to aid in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
However, it's hard to see how not selling alcohol past 6pm will assist in stopping coronavirus.
Thando tweeted, "What does alcohol have to do with corona?"
She soon deleted the tweet after a bit of backlash, but it was actually a valid question as many other South Africans were wondering the same thing.
Fumani Mabuza responded, "They have been wanting to punish us for a very long time."
Another tweep said, "Nami ngsacela ukwazi?? (I'd also like to know)."
A user by the name of @misc19 added, "It's a valid question though."
